# Connect your agent to Straddle

> Search Straddle documentation and work with the API through hosted MCP servers.

Connect your coding agent to Straddle documentation and API tools with the Model Context Protocol (MCP). Straddle provides two hosted servers: Docs MCP for documentation search and API MCP for operation discovery and requests.

## Choose a connection

Use the server that matches your task:

| Server | Use it to | Authentication |
| - | - | - |
| Docs MCP, `straddle-docs` | Find guides, API reference material, and integration instructions. | No API key. |
| API MCP, `straddle-api` | Discover operations and send requests to Straddle. | Your Straddle API key for requests. |

The [Straddle plugin](/developer-tools/agent-plugin/install) connects both servers and adds integration skills. To configure MCP directly, follow [Connect MCP](/developer-tools/mcp/install).

## Work with the API

API MCP exposes the following tools:

| Tool | What it does |
| - | - |
| `summarize-openapi-specs` | Summarizes available specifications, servers, and paths. |
| `search-openapi-operations` | Finds operations and their request schemas. |
| `search-documentation` | Searches available documentation. |
| `execute-request` | Sends an HTTP request for a discovered operation. |

Specification discovery works separately from authenticated API execution. A successful summary proves the connection can read the contract. A successful API request proves access to that operation with the configured key.

API MCP can run reads and writes permitted by your key. Choose the environment and account for each task, and review requests through your client's approval controls. See [Authentication and permissions](/developer-tools/mcp/safety).
